Proteins for pets - Healthy pet foods

Proteins (from the greek term "proteios" which means “primary importance”), are essential and indispensable components of every diet, and they play a key role in cell construction and renovation, in muscle mass development and in the formation of red blood cells, skin and coat.

Proteins contain amino acids (the so-called "elementary bricks”).

Some of them are called essential,  as they can not be synthesized by the human body and have to be taken with food in a balanced way. The requirements vary depending on the stage of life: a larger amount is required during growth, pregnancy and lactation.

When a dog or a cat eat a protein food, proteins are divided over the constituent amino acids and then absorbed in the small intestine. The amino acids are then reassembled into specific proteins needed by the body.

The meat is an extremely important food for nutrition because its is a source of proteins of high biological value, vitamins and minerals (especially iron, which is vital for growth).

This fresh mousse of poultry meat is used for the production of our kibbles !!!!!! Therefore, you will not find any bones, heads, necks, etc..

It is a source of proteins of high biological value, much more digestible and assimilable for dogs or cats. Our meat is raw when extruded and it is not subject to prolonged cooking times, which can damage proteins and make them less assimilable.

NOVAFOODS PROTEIN SYSTEM

Our formulas are made with high quality fresh meat, rigorously selected and controlled  to provide the proper nutritional value.

The shift in short times (up to 8 hours) of fresh poultry meat, boned and not frozen, and the controlled cooking, through a technologically advanced process, allows the preservation of its nutritional value, improving the digestibility of essential amino acids.

Our mission is to ensure safe and wholesome food for a balanced nutrition.

PROTEIN SOURCE

FRESH DUCK

Low allergizing meat, a source of high-quality protein, rich in minerals. Nowadays it is much less fat: in fact, the percentage of fats has decreased from 20% to 8%. It is a source of essential fatty acids.

Particularly recommended for:
Sensitive, debilitated or convalescent pets;
a change of fresh protein source in case of food hypersensitivity.

FRESH  CHICKEN

It is a light, appetizing and highly digestible meat, thanks to the short diameter of muscle fibres and the low amount of collagen and elastine.
It contains a particularly high amount of lysine, which is the limiting amino acid in cereals. The amount of branched-chain amino acids is higher compared to other meats. Fats are characterized by a high degree of unsaturation. It is rich in iron, zinc and  minerals that are important for the transport of oxygen in the blood and for skin health.

The strong intake of linoleic acid is extremely useful for the protection of the skin, the mantle and the reproductive system.

Particularly recommended for:
pets of all ages and breeds.

FRESH TURKEY

It is a meat rich in proteins of high biological value, with a balanced amount of essential amino acids that are crucial for growth, for the muscle mass development and the formation of red blood cells. It has a low amount of fats, predominantly "unsaturated", it is very digestible and it has a good amount of B Group Vitamins, bio-available iron and minerals.

Particularly recommended for:
pets of all ages and breeds.

LAMB

It is a white and light meat and a rich source of proteins, vitamins and mineral salts (especially calcium and iron, which are vital for growth).
It represents a pleasant alternative to the traditional taste of meat, it is highly tolerable and digestible.

Particularly recommended for:
dogs with food problems or intestinal transit;
a change of protein source in case of food hypersensitivity.

HORSE

Highly digestible meat, with a low amount of fats and rich in iron (average value 4.5 mg/100 g); it is also a source of D and B group Vitamins and it has a high amount of proteins and amino acids.

Particularly recommended for:

allergic dogs to which an elimination diet with scarcely known proteins is required.

RABBIT

The rabbit meat has, from a nutritional point of view, indisputable qualities as it is characterized by a relatively low percentage of fats, with low energy and a very high density proteins.
This latter aspect guarantees the excellent nutritional value of rabbit meat, as a large proportion of its total energy comes from proteins and not from lipids. The protein amount of rabbit meat ranges from 20.8% to 23.3% and it is rich in essential amino acids such as lysine and threonine.

Particularly recommended for:
a change of protein source in case of red meat hypersensitivity.

PORK

In recent years, the pork meat industry has seen significant changes, making pork the alternative meat of excellence.
The selection of particular breeds and a protein-based nutrition made it possible to breed pigs with a very low amount of subcutaneous and intramuscular fat.
Lean pork is a good source of protein with an excellent amount of amino acids. Considering some aspects, like the fact that it contains Vitamins B1, B2 and L-carnitine, pork meat is even better then other types of meat.

FISH

It is an attractive alternative to the meat of birds and mammals.

It is an extremely healthy food with excellent nutritional properties and with a high biological value. It naturally contains a low amount of fats and it is a source of Vitamin A, D3 and B group Vitamins and mineral salts such as iron and phosphorus.

It provides Omega 3 essential fatty acids, in the most assimilable form such as EPA and DHA. Because of this reason, fish has an important curative efficacy against many inflammatory diseases and against the "bad" cholesterol LDL.

It also increases the immune system function providing enhanced protection against diseases and maintaining healthy skin and shiny coat.

Particularly recommended:
In case of meat hypersensitivity and specific diseases (allergies or food intolerance).

EGGS

Eggs contain the most digestible proteins that are used as a reference standard along with milk proteins. Eggs contain the most suitable proportions of essential amino acids necessary for the growth of puppies and to maintain the health of adult dogs.

Egg lipids have a low amount of saturated fatty acids in comparison to other foods of animal origin, that is about one third of the total. Eggs are rich in linoleic acid that is an essential fatty acid for the body.

Eggs contain most of the vitamins necessary for a proper nutrition. It is one of the richest source of Vitamin A, as well as a good source of phosphorus and iron.
